How to Start Over

LifePhysician, LLC

Sometimes in life, you want to start over. This might happen after a devastating breakup, a disappointment, or a realization about the people who surround you. It might not always be productive to pick up everything you have and leave. However, you can still do some things that will give you the same satisfaction of starting over. These are some tips that might help you.

Eliminate Harmful Relationships

One of the first processes you can do for yourself is to eliminate all harmful relationships from your life. You do not need anyone in your life who is going to hinder your growth or positivity. Therefore, you should take a few minutes to stop and think about all the relationships that are in your life right now and then zone in on the ones that make you feel inadequate, unsuccessful, or unhappy in any way. Ask yourself how long those relationships have been making you feel that way, and let them go if it has been longer than a few months despite your efforts to change their dynamic.

Meditate and Declare Your Reality

Meditation can help you to start over if you're currently in a bad place. Learning how to meditate and declare your reality takes some practice, but you'll eventually get a handle on it. You can start by going out to a quiet place and closing your eyes. Set your alarm clock for two minutes first. During those two minutes, you need to think about something that makes you feel happy and at peace. You will be able to spend a longer time meditating during each subsequent session.

Take Control of Your Thoughts

Learning how to take your thoughts captive can also help you in your recovery. You can't always control what thoughts come up in your mind, but you can control which ones you choose to entertain and how long you choose to entertain them for. You have the power to shut down an unpleasant thought the moment it pops up in your mind. You also have the power to focus on a different thought that is healthier and better for your personal development. Practice taking captive any thoughts that do not build you up or make you feel more confident about your future. You will eventually get to a happy place where you feel good all the time, and you never let anything impure get into your mind.

Go on a Spiritual Retreat

Sometimes, you need to physically get away from an area to feel the full effect of separation. A spiritual retreat might be the perfect answer to that situation. A spiritual retreat is a trip you might take where you will climb a mountain or hike through the wilderness while you become closer to your higher power than ever before. The spiritual retreat may also involve several other people who share the same goal that you share.

Try some of the tactics mentioned above if you want to start your life all over again after experiencing something devastating. You might find that one or more of these methods work well for you.
